There are many reasons as to why a person would need to take a physical fitness assessment. Whether planning on joining the police force, the military, a sports team or some other physically strenuous profession, it is important to have knowledge of personal athletic ability. Even just for a hobby or personal gain, this general assessment is a useful measure of physical fitness. A general physical fitness assessment format should progress in order from the least tiring to the most tiring activities. It should begin with measurements and other lighter tests and then move on to non-strenuous agility tests. Finally, it should include information about power and strength, sprints, and muscular endurance. If used to track progress, the assessment should be repeated every few weeks at even intervals. This sample is a general, commonly used test that can be found in most areas of the military and law enforcement. It includes activities that calculate agility, strength and endurance, as well as a few basic measurements, and is versatile enough to be used for almost any purpose, from tracking personal fitness goals to train for a professional sports team or military position. The user may use all the tests listed or pick and choose specific ones for his or her physical fitness assessment
